The day started out with a plan to meet a friend at a well known and iconic bookstore that sells books in English. As goes with the best laid plans, the opening time was different than expected and traffic was heavier than predicted. I ended up with a little time to burn and started to wander. Where should my feet lead me but across a bridge to...
La Cathedral de Notre Dame. Watching this beautiful church burn on CNN two years ago made my heart ache and my eyes tear. It great to see so much of the church is un damaged and the restorations are well underway. The city seems to be using the opportunity to educate passers-by on the façade of the church and the meaning behind all the parts of the doorways. The picture don't do it justice; this is a massive structure. Time will tell if we will be able to enter before our time in Paris is up.
On our walk we passed a French drinking fountain. Paris is reported to have wonderful water. You insert your sup or bottle between the statues for a fill up. Supposedly, some even dispense sparkling water, but I haven't come across one of those yet.

When the bookstore opened, we spent about an hour browsing and exploring the upstairs of used books. Of course, I wanted to buy them all. Being as mobile as we are, large book collections aren't very practical. I held myself to two.
After the bookstore we walked to an American food store. I have been on the hunt for Goldfish crackers as Kenyon is having some difficult adjusting and is seeking comfort food. I did manage to find some of the smaller snack size bags. A nice surprise- they were not the most expensive Goldfish I have ever bought.

My boys would be happy to put together a snack food care package if you ever need it. :)
